Our life is a collection…

It is a collection of moments layered one on top of the other, creating a story unique to us, so that we can leave our own distinctive marks on the world. It is filled with layers of love, loss, struggle, perseverance, failure and success. Even in those spaces between the life altering layers and pivotal points, therein lies beauty. Beauty, not in-spite of the commonplaceness and mundanity, but because of it.

My work is an examination of life—every chapter, every shift, every little moment of clarity, every thought that is the sum of an individual. Just like in the layers of life, there is no going back and correcting with the medium and paint in which I work. What’s done is done, there is only going forward, adding new layers and embracing the willingness to be transformed into something new with each added one. It’s a dance, an attempt to capture the fluidity of life while embracing the structure and precision of my process with the minimal forgiveness permitted by my medium. The journey takes time, patience and acceptance.

My goal is to inspire those who see my work to view their ever-evolving existence and the lives of those around them with a new perspective. I hope that with each piece they might direct their focus beyond the conspicuous and conceptual framework, but instead view life as a summation of the countless moments that have shaped them as well as the innumerable possibilities and paths that might present themselves with opportunities to change the direction of their own life’s composition.
